Description

Hetaone’s “Fragmented Duality” presents a new exploration of the theme of identity fragmentation. This work, based on IKEA documents such as instructions and lists of interior design products, juxtaposes the intimate and the functional in a striking way.

The central character, a female nude drawn in pencil and felt, is this time in horizontal symmetry. Stripped of bright colors, the work focuses on natural and dark tones of the walnut bud, accentuating volumes and shadows to give depth to the figure. With arms raised, one with his fist closed, the other with his hand in his hair, the character floats in a space that harmoniously mixes chaos and order.

The background of torn and glued papers creates a dynamic, three-dimensional texture. The tears are accentuated by randomly arranged scotches, adding a dimension of controlled disorder to the work. The layers of paper form shadows, reinforcing the effect of depth and visual explosion around the central character.

In the lower left, there is a self-portrait of the artist. This face is pierced by a graffiti lettering style “wildstyle”, complex and interwoven, it also gushes out of his head in the form of tentacles of horns. This element brings a touch of surrealism and mystery to the work, while reinforcing the idea of duality and inner struggle.

The contrast between the female character and the artist’s stylized self-portrait, mixed with graffiti aesthetics, highlights the tension between different forms of artistic expression. This superposition symbolizes the coexistence of the intimate and the public, the ordinary and the extraordinary.

“Fragmented Duality” invites the viewer to contemplate the complexity of human identity through a rich and textured visual composition. The work asks questions about the place of the individual in a standardized society, while exploring the different facets of personal expression and artistic creativity.
