Description

“Fragmented ascent” is a work of Hetaone, measuring 40 cm by 50 cm. Using mediums such as pencil, ballpoint pen, felt-tip pen and blue ink, this composition unfolds on a torn paper support.

Top Plan:
At the centre of the work is the emblematic figure of Hetaone in a christic position, arms spread apart, seemingly floating in levitation. This character, which is a recurring feature in the artist’s works, exudes an aura of mysticism and serenity, while being at the heart of a visually agitated scene.

Background:
The torn paper around the central character reveals several layers of paper, each separated by a few millimeters from the others, creating tangible depth and shadows between the layers. These tears, from the central character to the four corners of the work, form a visual explosion that adds dramatic dynamics to the composition.

Symbolism and Themes:
The figure in Christ’s position evokes themes of sacrifice, transcendence and resurrection, while the layers of torn paper can symbolize the many facets and diverse experiences that make up a life. The tears and shadows cast create a sense of constant movement and change, suggesting that identity is constantly evolving.

Conclusion:
With “Fragmented ascent”, Hetaone exploits the materiality of paper and the depth of layers to create a work that combines visual complexity and deep symbolism. The central figure’s Christic position, in levitation and surrounded by explosive tears, evokes themes of sacrifice, transformation and rebirth. This work invites the viewer to contemplate the fragmented nature of existence and the beauty that emerges from moments of deconstruction and reconstruction.

Although the work is rooted in Hetaone’s distinctive style, it resonates universally by addressing themes such as the quest for meaning, resilience to adversity and the fragmented nature of human existence.
