Description

In “Broken Life”, HetaOne gives us a powerful and disturbing portrait. A half-man, half-corpse figure whose flesh seems to crumble under the effect of time or some invisible force. At the crossroads of realism and graphic illustration, this face is disintegrated on a rough background, accentuating the feeling of wear and decline.

One eye remains sharp while the other, when empty, reveals a creaky bone structure. His twisted mouth, between chuckles and a frozen smile, reinforces the impression of an existence in fragile balance between life and death.

At the top of the skull, matter bursts, thought itself goes up in smoke, a gradual dissolution of the individual.

The inscription BROKEN LIFE at the top of the image, with its slightly damaged lettering, completes this representation of a ruined identity. This work could be the perfect illustration of a mind ravaged by time, madness or society… or just a good hangover after a long night!

Broken Life is like a picture that says, “Everything’s fine but not too good either….”
