Rillieux Street Art Festival 2023
Memory apartment

In this apartment-work, the duo Monsieur S and Heta One had to pay tribute to the memory and the past of this building. The works inside testify to the lives of the past within 1-5 Avenue du Mont Blanc. This apartment pays tribute to all the inhabitants and all the diversity that the residence has experienced during the last 60 years.

In what used to be the kitchen, Mr S chose to write down almost all the surnames of the inhabitants who lived here from the creation of the building to its destruction. Like a punishment each name is inscribed one after the other from floor to ceiling in a calligraphic style very specific to the artist.

In the first room, they decided to create a cabinet of curiosity composed of objects that belonged to the inhabitants of the bar. In this atmosphere where objects from all eras and ages mingle, the artists invite you to imagine their experiences as well as the daily life of the former inhabitants.

In the other room, two brothers and sisters living in the building played the pose game for the artists. They are facing a poem that a former resident had written and that was transcribed by Mr S.
